What can a laser hair removal do for me?
The most effective laser for hair removal has historically been the Alexandrite laser. However, risk to darker skin types has kept it from being the universal choice. OVME’s next generation laser hair removal technology is the first, high-speed Alexandrite laser that allows ALL SKIN TYPES (even the darkest) to achieve a hair free, hassle free life. OVME’s technological breakthrough delivers a fast, uniform and most importantly, painless hair removal experience for patients.
At OVME the process of receiving a laser hair removal treatment is quite simple. We ask that all patients come to the appointment with the treatment areas shaved (not waxed) and prepped. If there is excess hair in the treatment areas, we will shave and prep the locations at the time of the appointment. Our OVME Certified providers are trained to adjust the laser for optimal performance according to skin type.
Why Laser Hair Removal At OVME?
OVME is one of the leading medical aesthetic practices in the country – Our commitment to science-based innOVation is unmatched. We offer complimentary consultations so that an OVME Certified Provider can help you address your specific needs prior to treatment.
How long does laser hair removal last?
After a successful treatment session (or sessions), your OVME laser hair removal can last up to two years. We do recommend that you consider regular maintenance to ensure that the treated areas stay hairless forever. While routine upkeep is often not required, every person is different, and we always make a personalized recommendation to ensure you see the best possible results for your goals.
How does laser hair removal work?
OVME’s laser hair removal procedure works by emitting a light that is absorbed by the hair, specifically the melanin in the hair. The energy by the light is then converted to heat, damaging the hair follicles that produce hair. Ultimately, this process inhibits and delays the growth of hairs in the hair follicles.
What are the negatives of laser hair removal?
While laser hair removal is a safe process, there is the potential for side effects after a procedure. In addition to redness and irritation from the procedure, laser hair removal clients in rare cases could experience “crusting” in the treated area, changes in skin color, and skin infection. However, at OVME, we make customized recommendations for each client to ensure that we mitigate potential side effects by tailoring your procedure to suit your hair color, skin color, and hair loss goals. If you have any questions about how laser hair removal may affect you, please contact us at OVME for a consultation.
Why is my hair still growing after laser hair removal?
Hair can still grow after an initial hair removal treatment because of the hair’s growth cycle. Laser hair removal only works on hair in the active (or anagen) phase. In this stage, most hair is actively growing in the hair follicle. However, for hair in the dormant (or catagen) stage, where it is not actively growing at the time of treatment, the laser will be ineffective. If you’re concerned about getting laser hair removal treatment because of the possibility of hair growing back despite treatment, talk to an OVME expert today to learn about how you can tailor your procedure to ensure the best results.
How do I prepare for laser hair removal?
To prepare for laser hair removal, it’s important to be completely shaved (not waxed!) in the treatment area within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment. This will help avoid irritation during and after your laser hair removal procedure. Please do not wax, tweeze, epilate, or use chemical depilatory treatments prior to your laser hair removal procedures, or between laser hair removal appointments.
How old do you have to be to get laser hair removal?
It is essential for the success of the laser hair removal process for the client to understand the process and what is expected of the aftercare regime, so OVME recommends a minimum age of 14 years old for laser hair removal. However, we can — and will — offer such treatments to younger clients as long as there is parental consent.
What happens if I don’t shave before laser hair removal?
If the hair is too long at the time of a laser hair removal appointment, the laser heat can, unfortunately, burn the skin. But if you cleanly shave right before treatment, the lasers will be able to easily and quickly locate the hair follicle and concentrate on the parts of the hair follicle below the skin and keep your skin from being affected. If you have questions about how to prevent skin damage and unnecessary pain, please contact our laser hair removal experts for a consultation. They’d be happy to answer any questions you have about creating a custom, pain-free treatment recommendation for you and your hair removal goals.
