There is no real downtime associated with  Botox however you may see redness at the injection site immediately after treatment. The cosmetic results from Botox can last anywhere from 3-4 months.

History of Botox

Botox Cosmetic, commonly referred to as Botox, is actually the brand name of the neurotoxin developed by Allergan, Inc. Botox was originally used by ophthalmologists to treat crossed or wandering eyes. After it was found to be effective in reducing wrinkles, the FDA approved it to be used as a cosmetic procedure in 2002. Botox has received FDA clearance to treat facial wrinkles in the galbellar (frown lines) and crow’s feet (around the eyes).

Botox FAQ

We’ve compiled a list of the most common questions that OVME receives about Botox.

How long does Botox last?

You can expect OVME Botox results to last 3-4 months. Over time, your muscles will regain movement, at which point your wrinkles and lines to reappear. This is a signal that you require another Botox or Dysport treatment.

When will I see results with my Botox treatment?

Patients begin seeing results within 5-7 days, with full correction at the 2 week mark. Of course, everyone’s body responds differently to the treatment. However, in almost all cases, the full effect of Botox or Dysport treatments will be visible 2 weeks after the procedure.

Is one brand or product better than another?

Botox Cosmetic is the popular brand name, but alternative brands such as Dysport are also effective. Some individuals prefer a certain brand based on their own personal experience. Whether you’re interested in Botox or Dysport, OVME is here to help you. We encourage you to schedule a complimentary consultation with our team so you can determine the product and price that works best for you and your lifestyle.

Can I get Botox the day before a big event?

Yes, a Botox treatment has really no downtime other than a few red marks at the injection site that resolve within hours. If you are concerned about looking your best for a specific event, there is no need to postpone a Botox or Dysport treatment.

What is the typical Botox recovery time?

You will be able to resume your normal activity immediately after receiving your injections of Botox or Dysport. However, vigorous rubbing of the area or facial massages should be avoided for at least 48 hours after treatment. As well as avoiding exercise for 4-6 hours after treatment.

Does Botox hurt?

Patients describe the injections as a pinch however they are well tolerated in nearly all instances. It is unlikely that you will feel anything beyond minor discomfort from your Botox treatment.

How does Botox get rid of wrinkles?

Botox stops the contractions of the muscles that create the lines and wrinkles on your face.  Biologically speaking, Botox injections work by blocking the uptake of acetylcholine by facial muscles. Through this process, facial wrinkles soften and can sometimes be eliminated completely. Dysport works in the same way.

Can I get Botox done the same day as other injectable procedures?

Yes, you can receive Botox the same day you receive other injectable treatments, including dermal fillers such as Voluma XC, Juvederm, Volbella, etc.

What happens if I'm not happy with the results?

OVME is focused on your results. If you ever need an adjustment after your Botox treatment, OVME will gladly offer a complimentary correction up to two weeks after your procedure.
