History of Dysport®

Though Dysport® was approved by the FDA for use in the U. S. in 2009, it’s been used abroad for years. Dysport® first became available in the U.K. in 1991, where it was used to treat muscle spasms, particularly those of the face and neck. Dysport® has been used throughout Europe, and in a number of other countries, for years before making its mark on the U.S.

Dysport® FAQ

Here are the most common questions that OVME receives about Dysport®.

Am I a candidate?

Both women and men can experience benefits of reduced wrinkle through the use of Dysport®. At OVME, we offer complimentary consultations and encourage anyone considering Dysport® or other minimally invasive cosmetic procedures to speak with an OVME Certified Provider. Patients who are allergic to the ingredients in Dysport® or have had allergic reactions to other botulinum products should not receive treatment. Patients should disclose to their OVME Certified Provider if they are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

How long does Dysport® last?

You can expect OVME Dysport® results to last 3-4 months. Over time, your muscles will regain movement, at which point your wrinkles will reappear. This will signal that you are ready for another Dysport treatment.

When will I see results?

Patients begin seeing results within 2-3 days, with full correction at the 2 week mark. Of course, everyone’s body responds differently to the treatment. However, in almost all cases, the full effect of Botox or Dysport treatments will be visible 2 weeks after the procedure.

Can I get Dysport® the day before a big event?

Yes, a Dysport® treatment has really no downtime other than a few red marks at the injection site that resolve within hours. If you are concerned about looking your best for a specific event, there is no need to postpone a Botox or Dysport® treatment.

Does Dysport® hurt?

Patients describe the injections as a pinch and are generally well tolerated. It is unlikely that you will feel anything beyond minor discomfort from your Dysport® treatment.

What is the difference between Dysport® and Botox?

Overall Botox and Dysport are very similar. Both are a type of botulinum type A used to relax the muscles that cause frown lines.

What happens if I'm not happy with the results.

OVME is focused on your results. If you ever need an adjustment after your treatment, OVME will gladly offer a complimentary correction up to two weeks after your procedure.
