Skincare, for many of us, has become a sort of ritual. We have a “morning routine” that’s akin to that first cup of coffee, and an “evening routine” that helps us unwind and cleanse the day away. AM or PM, each routine is rife with different products designed to help keep our skin looking and feeling its best.
If you don’t already have a skincare routine in place, however, starting one can be a bit daunting. There are thousands of products on the market, each claiming to be the next best thing for smaller pores, fewer wrinkles, reduced breakouts, more youthful skin—the list goes on. In fact, the skincare market is estimated to grow to $183.03 billion by 2025, with body lotions and face creams leading the pack.
The truth is that your daily skincare routine should be customized to your age and skin type, so finding the right products is key. Not sure where to start? We’ve got you covered. Whether you’re new to skincare or just looking to refresh your product roundup, we’ll show you how to build a daily skincare routine that will leave you luminous and glowing, 24/7.
Morning Skincare Routine
Your daytime skincare routine should be all about protecting your face from things like sun exposure and pollution.
Step 1: Cleanser
Even if you wash your face before bed, consider using a gentle cleanser in the morning as oils and bacteria from your pillowcase can easily transfer to your face while you sleep. We recommend this energizing facial cleanser from Revision Skincare that lifts away impurities and contains an enzyme in the papaya fruit extract that gently exfoliates for a vibrant glow throughout the day.
Step 2: Serum
Serums are highly concentrated treatments that provide a number of benefits, including diminishing dark spots, evening out skin tone, reducing pore size, and even reducing the damage caused by UV rays.
Our Brightening C Antioxidant Complex is easily absorbed by the skin and contains Vitamin C in the form of L ascorbic acid—an ingredient that offers protection against environmental damage and neutralizes free radicals as it brightens the complexion. This serum can also help reduce hyperpigmentation, support collagen synthesis, and contains ferulic acid—a natural sunscreen.
Step 3: SPF Moisturizer
Exposure to UV radiation is one of the biggest contributors to premature aging and has also been linked to skin cancer and the breakdown of collagen and elastin. This is why wearing sunscreen is so important—it protects the skin by absorbing or blocking UV radiation.
Many skincare products these days are formulated with SPF to help keep your skin safe. We recommend products with an SPF of 30 or higher, like the Revision Tinted Moisturizer with Sunscreen. This formula contains SPF 45 and offers broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
Evening Skincare Routine
Your nighttime skincare routine is all about cleansing and purifying your face from dirt, oils, makeup, and pollution.
Step 1: Cleanse
Throughout the day, your skin accumulates a buildup of sweat, oils, and other impurities, so it’s vital to cleanse properly before you go to bed. First, remove your makeup with either a makeup remover or makeup cleansing wipes. Then, follow up with a cleanser.
Our citrus-scented gel cleanser will help dissolve excess oil, purify pores, and clear blemishes that can occur during the daytime. Pure is formulated with Vitamin C and salicylic acid, which exfoliates and brightens the skin.
Step 2: Serum
Once again, you’ll want to use a serum to nourish your skin before bedtime. You can also add in an anti-aging treatment here as well. We like Revision’s peptide-rich serum, which targets expression lines with powerful peptides to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Step 3: Eye Cream
The skin under your eyes is thin and delicate, requiring a cream that will hydrate and protect the area. Try this clinically-proven formula from Revision—it was inspired by the Dermal-Epidermal Junction (DEJ) and utilizes pioneering Pathway Technology to rejuvenate the total eye area, including the eyelids.
Step 4: Moisturize
When moisturizing in the evening, you’ll want to use a thicker, creamier moisturizer to really hydrate your skin overnight. Our luxurious cream will help correct pigmentation, and over time, will tighten skin for a soft, dewy complexion.
