BEYOND SKIN DEEP: Model and OVME Ambassador Katharina Mazepa

It’s been a weird year for everyone, but Austrian import and model Katharina Mazepa has made the most of it: As runway shows and modeling jobs were canceled and postponed, she homed in on growing her social media—and from March to December 2020, saw her Instagram skyrocket from 50k to nearly 1 million followers. She also landed a huge campaign: Come spring, Mazepa will be the new face of Guess. The passionate animal rights activist (she’s been a vegetarian since she was 11 and only uses skincare products that are vegan and cruelty-free) spends time between Miami, LA and other cities for work, but DC is her beloved home base—and where she’s excited to be a part of the OVME campaign with the launch of our Bethesda studio. Here, she gives us the scoop on skincare.

OVME: We’re so thrilled to have you be a part of our Bethesda opening. Why is this a good partnership for you?

KM: OVME and I have a similar approach to beauty, which is a very wholesome approach: Being healthy and beautiful on the inside leads to the outer glow and being beautiful on the outside.

O: Love that! What first sparked your skincare journey, or what are your biggest skincare concerns?

KM: I have a good skincare routine established but I don’t go crazy. The biggest thing I have to pay attention to is cleansing, because on photo shoots I have to wear all this makeup and am being touched up 50 times with more powder, so at the end of the day I just really want to make sure I remove everything and my skin can breathe.

O: What treatments or services are you most looking forward to trying at the new OVME Bethesda studio?

KM: I’m really excited for the facials and, because I’m a vegetarian, I’m also very excited for the IVs and B12 shots to make sure, with my restricted nutrition, that I’m hydrated and have all the vitamins in my body.

O: Finally, how do you Find Your Glow®?

KM: I have to find this delicate balance between doing what makes me feel alive and excites me, and self-care. Self-care for me is many things: It can be yoga or spending time with family or skincare. When I feel balanced in that way, then I’m glowing.
