ALL ABOUTOVME RF MICRONEEDLING
The secret to firmer, tighter skin might be simpler than you think. Thanks to a minimally invasive treatment known as OVME RF microneedling, we can turn back the proverbial clock on aging. Yes, really!
So, what is OVME RF Microneedling? We’re glad you asked.
As we get older, skin thins and loses volume. Microneedling works to restore that volume while also minimizing fine lines and wrinkles (i.e. smoker’s lines and crow’s feet). In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about this simple yet effective procedure, including what is OVME RF Microneedling, how it works, and what you should know before making an appointment.
Let’s get to it: What is OVME RF Microneedling, and how does it work?
In simplest terms, microneedling is a procedure that involves creating superficial punctures by rolling fine needles across the skin. These microscopic injuries then stimulate inflammatory blood cells that migrate to the treatment area, prompting new collagen to be produced and resulting in firmer, more youthful-looking skin.
Now, we know what you’re thinking, “Needles in the skin? Yikes!” In reality, it sounds more painful than it actually is. Before your treatment at OVME, we apply a prescription-strength numbing cream to the area so that the most our clients normally feel is a light pressure throughout the duration of the procedure. Altogether, it takes about 15-20 minutes total.
Microneedling is proven to be safe and effective—the procedure actually dates all the way back to 1995, but recent advancements in technology (as well as the virality of social media) have made it an increasingly popular choice for not only restoring volume loss but minimizing scars, acne, stretch marks, and more. Microneedling is also ideal for all skin types, even darker tones, as it doesn’t run the risk of postinflammatory pigmentation—a common occurrence in other procedures that cause damage to the skin.
OVME RF Microneedling can be used in conjunction with other treatments to maximize results. One such treatment is PRP facials. A PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, facial utilizes platelets and growth factors in your blood to stimulate the healing process and boost collagen production. Active PRP is applied to the face, neck, or chest and then microneedled into the skin. Following the procedure, an additional application of PRP is placed on the skin to promote tissue healing. This treatment takes a little longer to complete—about 40-60 minutes.
Microneedling can also be combined with radiofrequency (RF) energy for even better outcomes. RF works by heating the skin and further enhancing both collagen production and the tightening of the tissue. This is how we do our microneedling treatments at OVME.
About RF: Our Microneedling Technology
At OVME, we always utilize the latest technology for all of our treatments, and microneedling is no exception. In our studios, we use something called the Vivace platform, a system that combines microneedling with radiofrequency to stimulate skin tightening, improve skin texture, and minimize fine lines. The Vivace is FDA-approved, minimally invasive, and incredibly effective.
What to Expect at Your OVME RF Microneedling Appointment
When you book a OVME RF Microneedling appointment at OVME, you can expect superior service and care at every one of our meticulously designed studios. When you come for treatment, we’ll make sure you’re comfortable and fully informed about each step of the process.
Prior to starting your microneedling procedure, we’ll apply a prescription-strength numbing cream and let it absorb for 5-10 minutes before getting started. You may feel some pressure, and some clients report feeling slightly more discomfort over the more bony areas of the faces, such as the temples, forehead, and chin. Altogether, the procedure takes just 15-20 minutes.
During RF treatment, radiofrequency energy is emitted into the layers of the skin, which can cause a warming or heated sensation. Thanks to the Vivace technology, however, the energy gets dispersed evenly, therefore avoiding the potential for “hot spots.” In addition, pinpoint bleeding may occur throughout the duration of your treatment. This is very common and expected. Mild edema (swelling) can also occur. Again, this is normal and can be treated with ice packs and/or recovery spray.
OVME RF Microneedling Aftercare
As with any procedure, it’s important to follow aftercare instructions for best results. For up to 24 hours post-treatment, you may experience continued warmth that’s comparable to a sunburn. Again, cold packs will be your best friend in this scenario.
It’s also important to note that the micro-channels created by the Vivace microneedling system remain open for four to six hours, thus creating an opportunity for serums to penetrate the skin. We’ll take care of that for you in-studio as you’ll want to avoid applying any additional skincare products during the first 24 hours unless otherwise recommended by your clinician.
Additional aftercare tips worth noting:
- Prior to treatment, use a very mild, soothing cleanser to avoid irritating skin.
- Refrain from applying makeup until the following day. Use clean makeup brushes. Mineral-based makeup is best during the post-treatment period (24-48 hours).
- Do not exercise or increase your heart rate 24-48 hours post-treatment.
- Avoid all sun exposure for up to three days post-treatment. Wear your hat and sunscreen.
- Refrain from deep exfoliation and/or retinol products for seven to 10 days post-treatment.
OVME RF Microneedling Results & Continued Treatment
You may see results immediately following your first RF microneedling treatment, however, most people achieve more dramatic results with multiple treatments. Typically, we recommend three treatments, four to six weeks apart, to achieve the look you want. Additionally, it can take upwards of three months for collagen regeneration to take full effect.
At the end of the day, everyone’s skin is different—that’s why our OVME experts will work with you to customize a plan that will help you achieve your desired results.
