B12 Injection Care Instructions

B12 Injection Care Instructions

At OVME, we offer B12 injections to support energy levels, boost metabolism, and promote overall wellness. This quick, minimally invasive treatment delivers a powerful dose of vitamin B12—essential for red blood cell production and nervous system health. With little to no downtime, B12 injections are a convenient way to help you feel revitalized and ready to take on your day.

How to Prepare for a B12 Injection

  • Consult with your primary care provider if you have any ongoing medical conditions to ensure a B12 injection is appropriate for you.
  • Discontinue use of NSAIDs and other blood thinning medications for three days prior to administration to help reduce the risk of bruising or bleeding (check with your physician prior to discontinuing prescribed medications).
  • Eat a meal and drink plenty of water before your injection to stay nourished and hydrated, which can help prevent lightheadedness and support absorption.

Post B12 Injection Care

  • For optimal results, schedule B12 Injections routinely as recommended by your provider.
  • Keep the injection site clean, avoid touching or rubbing the area, and keep it covered to lower the risk of infection.
  • The most common side effects are bruising or tenderness at the injection site. Please contact your provider if you experience ongoing dizziness, nausea, or headaches.
  • Drink plenty of water after your injection to help your body metabolize and absorb the B12 effectively.
  • Avoid strenuous physical activity for 24 hours after your injection to prevent additional swelling, bruising, or tenderness.
